Installation creating an actual rainbow inside Longwood Gardens. Any time of day, anytime of year. Part of everyones imagination and a sight we look out for when rain and shine happens together, Both Mythical (Bifrost), Magical (Rainbow Unicorns), and Hopefull (Gold at the end...), it is one of natures great wonders. As exciting in 40 b.c as it is today.

The rainbow changes depending on light angle and water droplet size (this can be adjustable features or the Installation can be static).

The 'Rainbow Fantasma' is created by a simple system, where all components are off the shelf. It consist of a series of water misting valves set on a rail on the ceiling joist - valves normally used in gardening or industrial fire prevention. This rail is fed by a hose going to a submerged pump in the basin and is therefor a closed system, in theory not needing external supply of water.

Using standard, of the shelf nozzles from fire suppression systems anything from a spray to a aerosol mist can be created, shown in the right image as a group of nozzles. In the 'Weather System' the nozzles would be set in a line, closer. In an industrial mist system 1 litre water produces more than 1.700 litres of water mist = 1.7 cubic metre.

Lighting can be done using standard single source theatre par lamps (one bulp/led), either static or as DMX spots for a variable scenario as described earlier. Single or multiples.

Mirrors placed under water could create an effect at the base of the 'tree'. The shimmering/disturbance of water + reflective material submerged could possible create an effect at the base of the 'Tree'. Subject to testing/mockup.

The 'RayTree' is created by a simple system, where all components are off the shelf. It consist of a series of water misting valves set on a small diameter, hollow tube ring on the with a projector housed abve this so the projector beam shines into the mist cone. This rail is fed by a hose going to a submerged pump in the basin and is therefor a closed system, in theory not needing external supply of water.

By placing microphones over and under the water surface, and by the pump and running these through effects and/or electronic instruments, these can can be transformed into music, created in realtime from the sounds the installation creates.
